LET'S WORK TOGETHER

Park 31 Wedding Venue Photographer | Spring Branch, Texas

As a Park 31 wedding venue photographer I can tell you this place makes my job feel less like work and more like I got to show up to the best party of the year with a camera. Thirty acres of Texas Hill Country, floor to ceiling windows in the En Gedi Hall, a ceremony site under a living oak that honestly makes me emotional every single time.

That's the thing about this place. It's big enough to feel grand and intimate enough to feel like yours. If you're getting married at Park 31 and you want photos that actually feel like the day felt?

You're in the right place.

sacred spaces

Okay so this is genuinely one of the questions I get asked the most and honestly? The answer is both. But let me break it down for you because Park 31 is one of those rare Texas Hill Country wedding venues where you don't actually have to choose.

If you're someone who dreamed of an outdoor ceremony your whole life, the Living Oak site is going to make you cry before you even get to your vows. We're talking 30 acres, Hill Country sky, natural shade from that gorgeous oak, and the kind of backdrop that looks like it was designed specifically for your photographer to lose her mind over. In a good way. I promise.

But if you're more of an indoor person, or if you're getting married in the middle of a Texas summer where it is genuinely unhinged outside, the En Gedi Main Hall is not a consolation prize. Those floor to ceiling windows bring the outside in, those massive chandeliers give you that warm golden glow, and the gothic architecture makes everything feel dramatic and romantic and honestly a little cinematic in the best way possible.

Here's what I always tell my couples though. Your ceremony location sets the tone but your portraits are where the real magic happens. And at Park 31 we have both worlds to play with. We can start outside during golden hour when that Hill Country light is doing something completely unfair and then move inside when the reception kicks off and the chandeliers take over.

As your San Antonio wedding photographer I've shot both and I can tell you with full confidence that Park 31 delivers either way. The real question is which one feels most like you?

The best photo spots at Park 31 (and when to use each one)

The En Gedi Main Hall is one of those spaces that makes you stop in the doorway for a second when you first walk in. It's a lot. In the best possible way. Industrial steel beams overhead, exposed brick columns, a wraparound second story balcony, and those floor to ceiling windows that basically frame the Texas Hill Country like it's a painting someone hung there on purpose.

And then there are those chandeliers. Three massive tiered chandeliers hanging in the center of the room that make you feel like you're somewhere important. Like something significant is about to happen here. Which, to be fair, it is.

From a photography standpoint this room is a playground. The windows flood the space with natural light during the day and as the sun goes down the chandelier takes over and everything gets warm and dramatic and honestly a little romantic in a way that requires zero extra effort from anyone. The light just does it.

The En Gedi Main Hall and floor-to-ceiling windows

Park 31 is one of those venues that gives you range in the best possible way. It has the wide open Texas Hill Country feel couples love, but it also has polished indoor spaces that keep the day feeling elevated from start to finish.

As a San Antonio wedding photographer, I love photographing weddings here because the property gives us variety, beautiful light, and space for the day to unfold naturally. Whether you are planning an outdoor Park 31 ceremony or using the indoor spaces for part of the day, it is a venue that photographs beautifully without feeling overly staged.

What it's actually like to photograph a wedding at Park 31

Can we talk about light for a second? Because this is genuinely one of my favorite things about Park 31 and I could go on about it forever.

In the morning, when you're getting ready in the Madison Bridal Suite, the light is soft and a little golden and honestly so flattering it's almost unfair. It wraps around everything gently. No harsh shadows, no squinting. Just you, your people, and this beautiful quiet glow while someone in the corner is already crying and you haven't even put your shoes on yet.

How the light at Park 31 changes throughout the wedding day

By ceremony time, depending on your start time, the sun is doing its whole dramatic thing over the Living Oak. If you're doing an earlier ceremony we're working with that bright open Texas sky which means we find shade, we get creative, and we make it work beautifully. But if you can push your ceremony even slightly later? The light starts to get magic. Like actually cinematic magic!

And then golden hour hits. Out on those 30 acres of Hill Country with that warm amber light wrapping around you two and I'm not even exaggerating when I say some of my absolute favorite images I've ever taken have happened right here at this venue during that window. It's maybe 45 minutes. Sometimes less. And it is everything.

Then the reception kicks in and the En Gedi Hall does something I genuinely never get tired of. Those massive industrial chandeliers overhead make you feel like you're at a royal wedding, except somehow it still feels warm and personal and completely yours. The way that light falls across a dance floor full of people who love you? That's not just pretty. That's the stuff you're going to want to remember forever.

I'm going to say something that might surprise you. The most important decision you'll make about your wedding photos at Park 31 has nothing to do with your dress or your florals or even your photographer. It's what time you schedule your portraits.

I know that sounds dramatic but hear me out.

Park 31 sits on 30 acres of Texas Hill Country and that landscape is completely different depending on what time of day you're standing in it. Midday light in a Texas summer is no joke. It's harsh and flat and it makes even the most beautiful people squint in ways they will not love in 20 years. So when couples schedule their portraits for high noon because it felt convenient on the timeline I have to have a little heart to heart with them.

Now golden hour? Golden hour at Park 31 is something else entirely. That warm amber light rolling across the Hill Country, wrapping around you two out by the Living Oak or out in those open fields? That's the stuff that makes people cry when they see their gallery. That's the alchemy. That's why I will lovingly beg you to build your timeline backwards from sunset if you can.

Even 45 minutes makes an enormous difference. Sometimes less. And as your photographer I will always tell you exactly when that window is and make sure we are outside and ready for it because missing it would genuinely keep me up at night.

The couples who give me that golden hour window get something different. Not just prettier. Truer. And that's what we're here for.

Indoor vs. outdoor - which works best for your style

Why timing your portraits at Park 31 changes everything

Listen, I have photographed a lot of venues across the Texas Hill Country and San Antonio area and Park 31 has something that most venues don't. Variety. Like genuine, show stopping, I cannot believe we get to use all of this in one day variety.

Every single spot on this property has its own personality and its own light and its own moment it was made for. So let me walk you through my favorites because knowing these spots before your wedding day is genuinely going to change how we plan your timeline together.

There is no way to adequately prepare you for what golden hour looks like on 30 acres of Texas Hill Country. I can try to describe it but honestly the photos just have to do the talking because words kind of fall short.

What I can tell you is this. When that sun starts dropping behind the oak trees and the light turns that warm impossible amber and it comes filtering through the branches like it specifically asked permission to be beautiful that day? That is the moment I have been waiting for since I arrived at your venue at nine in the morning. That is the whole thing. That is the alchemy.

This is why I talk about your portrait timeline so much. This is why I will lovingly, relentlessly, with zero apologies advocate for us to be outside during that window. Because golden hour at Park 31 is not just pretty. It is the kind of light that makes your photos look like a feeling. And that is what you are going to want to look at for the rest of your life.

Golden hour on 30 acres of Hill Country

That tree has been standing in the Texas Hill Country longer than any of us have been alive and honestly it shows up for every single wedding like it knows exactly what it's doing.

The Living Oak is one of those spots on the property that photographers genuinely get excited about because that natural canopy creates the most gorgeous diffused light. Soft, flattering, no harsh shadows, no squinting. Just this warm dappled glow that makes everything feel a little cinematic and a little sacred at the same time.

Whether you use it for your ceremony or sneak away here during portraits, this spot delivers. Every single time.

See that balcony up there? Most couples never use it for photos and I genuinely cannot explain why because it is one of the most dramatic spots in the entire venue. You've got this incredible second story overlook, string lights overhead, industrial steel railings, and a view down into the main hall that makes everything feel cinematic and grand and just a little bit epic.
The hallway leading up to it is honestly just as good. That long corridor with the stone column, the geometric light fixtures, the double doors at the end with natural Hill Country light flooding through. If you give me five minutes in this hallway I will give you some of the most editorial images of your entire wedding day.
This is the spot I always have my eye on and the one I make sure we don't leave Park 31 without using. Your future self will thank us both.

The second-story balcony moment most couples miss

The Madison Bridal Suite is not a holding room. I need you to understand that. This is a whole entire vibe. Tufted velvet couches, antique mirrors, rustic wood French doors, and this beautiful warm empire chandelier overhead that makes the morning light feel like something out of a movie.

Getting ready photos here are genuinely some of my favorites from any Park 31 wedding because the space does so much of the work for us. The windows bring in that soft morning light, the mirrors give us angles we wouldn't have otherwise, and everything about the room just feels intentional and warm and a little bit romantic even before anyone has put their dress on.

This is where the day really starts. The champagne, the tears, the best friend saying something wildly inappropriate while buttoning your dress. And it all happens in a room that looks like it was designed specifically to be photographed in. So that works out perfectly for us.

The Madison Bridal Suite - getting ready done right

The Living Oak ceremony site

I have photographed a lot of weddings at Park 31 but there is one that holds a little extra magic even for me. Park 31 belongs to Mary. And Travis is her son. Watching a venue owner's child get married in the space his mom built with so much love? That does not happen every day. The whole thing felt full circle in the most beautiful way and I am so honored I got to be there for it.

A real wedding I've photographed at park 31

YOU'RE MY PERSON IF...

You want real, not posed.

You cry at commercials.

I've been a photographer since 2003 and I still get butterflies before every wedding. I'm not the photographer who shows up, stays quiet, and disappears. I'm the one cracking jokes during family formals, whispering "don't move" when the light does something unreal, and crying in my car on the way home because your dad's face during your first dance absolutely wrecked me.

I shoot for the grandkids. Not the algorithm.

Here's what it actually looks like to work with me.

You're getting married, not performing.

Your wedding day at Park 31 in Spring Branch Texas starts in the Madison Bridal Suite and as a Hill Country wedding photographer I am not even going to pretend I don't get a little giddy walking in there. That room was made for this.

The mirrors are everywhere and I mean that in the best possible way. I am constantly shooting through reflections in that suite because they give us angles and depth and this layered intimacy that you just cannot manufacture. There is even a mirrored armoire specifically for storing your dress and yes I am absolutely using that for photos before we move it anywhere.

The muted neutral palette of the whole space means it goes with literally every wedding color you could choose. Blush, burgundy, sage, navy. It all works in there without fighting for attention. The romantic chandelier overhead gives us that warm golden glow during morning getting ready coverage and the details in that room, the textures, the furniture, the architectural touches, make for detail photos that look intentional and editorial without trying too hard.

There is a balcony for your Juliet moment. There is a dressing room with a curtain for a dramatic reveal that I will absolutely be ready for. As your San Antonio wedding photographer this is not just a getting ready room to me. It is a whole entire set and I treat it like one every single time.

Getting ready in the Madison Bridal Suite

Ceremony light at Park 31 is something I genuinely think about when I am building your timeline because the difference between okay ceremony photos and ones that make you gasp is almost always timing.
The Living Oak gives you open sky and that grand sweeping Texas Hill Country backdrop. More seating, more grandeur, and when the light is right that open canopy turns absolutely golden in a way that makes everything feel cinematic and enormous and important.

he Umbrella Grove is a completely different energy. More intimate, those gorgeous oak branches arching overhead and wrapping the whole ceremony in this natural canopy that diffuses light into something soft and sacred and honestly a little dreamlike.

Both outdoor ceremony sites at this Spring Branch TX wedding venue photograph beautifully but the secret weapon is always timing. A Park 31 ceremony that starts even 30 minutes later in the afternoon can completely transform what your photos look like. That is not a small thing. That is the difference between pretty and breathtaking. As a Hill Country wedding photographer I will always have that conversation with you before your wedding day because your ceremony light is too important to leave to chance.

Ceremony timing and light at the Living Oak and Umbrella Grove

This is the part of the day I live for. After your ceremony wraps and your guests head to cocktail hour, that is when I steal you both away for portraits and honestly it is my favorite 30 to 45 minutes of the entire wedding day.

At Park 31 we have 30 acres of Texas Hill Country to work with and I already know exactly where I am taking you. The golden hour window out on this property is not something I am willing to miss and I will always build your portrait timeline around it because that light does something to photographs that cannot be replicated any other way. Warm, amber, low and wrapping around everything like it was specifically designed for your wedding day. That is the alchemy right there.

And while we are out in those Hill Country fields? My second shooter is right there in the thick of cocktail hour capturing every single moment you are missing. The hugs, the laughs, the drinks, the people you love being exactly themselves. Nothing gets missed.

I also work fast so I will have you back out there for a cocktail before your guests even notice you were gone. As a San Antonio wedding photographer I will tell you that the couples who protect that golden hour portrait window at Park 31 always end up with the images they wanted. Always.

Portraits, cocktail hour, and the golden hour window

When the doors to the En Gedi Hall open and the reception begins this room transforms into something I genuinely cannot get enough of. Those three massive tiered chandeliers overhead, the exposed brick, the wraparound balcony full of people who love you, and a dance floor that comes alive in a way that makes every single person in the room forget they were ever tired.

The chandeliers throw this warm dramatic light across everything. The floor to ceiling windows give us that beautiful contrast between the glowing interior and the dark Hill Country night outside. The balcony gives me angles looking down at the dance floor that are some of my favorite frames of the entire wedding day.
I stay until the last possible moment at Park 31 receptions because something always happens that you cannot plan for. A speech that destroys everyone in the room. A dad who thinks nobody is watching him cry.

A dance floor moment that is completely unhinged and absolutely perfect. That is what I am there for. Every single second of it.

FAQ's

Is Park 31 a good venue for wedding photos?

As a wedding photographer, the first thing I do when I walk into a new venue is look up. Then I look for windows. Then I start mentally mapping where the light is going to be at four in the afternoon and whether there's a spot that's going to make me lose my mind during golden hour. Park 31 passes every single one of those tests before I even make it through the front door. Thirty acres of Texas Hill Country, three massive tiered chandeliers in the En Gedi Main Hall, floor to ceiling windows, a bridal suite with morning light that is genuinely unfair, and an outdoor landscape that turns into something completely cinematic when the sun starts to drop. I have shot a lot of venues across the Hill Country and San Antonio area and Park 31 is one of the ones I get genuinely excited about every single time I'm on the calendar there.

What are the best photo spots at Park 31?

Okay where do I even start. The Madison Bridal Suite is where your morning begins and those antique mirrors and that empire chandelier make getting ready photos look genuinely stunning. The Living Oak is a must for portraits with that natural canopy creating the softest most flattering light you've ever seen. The En Gedi Main Hall with those three tiered chandeliers and floor to ceiling windows is basically a photography playground all on its own. The second story balcony overlooking the main hall is dramatic and editorial and most couples completely miss it which is a crime I am personally trying to prevent. And then there's golden hour out on those 30 acres of Hill Country where the light comes through the oak trees and does something that honestly makes me emotional every single time. As a Spring Branch TX photographer who has shot at this venue I can tell you every single one of these spots has a moment it was made for and my job is to make sure we hit all of them.

Do I need a second photographer at Park 31?

This is such a good question and the honest answer is it depends on your day but let me tell you why Park 31 specifically makes a strong case for one.

This venue is big. Like genuinely sprawling across 30 acres of Texas Hill Country big. And what that means photographically is that things are happening in multiple places at the same time. Your groom is doing his first look on one end of the property while your bridesmaids are finishing getting ready in the Madison Bridal Suite. Your ceremony is starting at the Living Oak while guests are still making their way in from the parking area. Your reception in the En Gedi Main Hall has a thousand moments happening simultaneously on a dance floor that size.

A second photographer means nothing gets missed. It means I am with you during your portrait session out in those Hill Country fields while someone else is capturing your guests arriving for cocktail hour. It means the reactions AND the moment. The details AND the big picture. Both sides of the room when your dad sees you for the first time.
As a Spring Branch TX photographer who has shot this industrial wedding venue in Texas many times I can tell you that the couples who add a second shooter to their Park 31 wedding consistently end up with fuller, richer galleries that tell the whole story of their day. Not just the highlights. All of it.

Want to know what that looks like in my packages? Let's talk.

How far is Park 31 from San Antonio?

Park 31 is about 45 minutes northwest of San Antonio which honestly makes it one of the most accessible Hill Country wedding venues for couples coming from the city. You get all of that gorgeous Texas Hill Country landscape, the 30 acres, the oak trees, the golden hour that makes photographers cry, without having to ask your guests to drive two hours into the middle of nowhere.

For my San Antonio couples this is actually one of my favorite things about Park 31. You are close enough to home that the logistics feel manageable but the moment you pull through those gates it feels like you escaped completely. It photographs like you are a million miles away from the city. And that is a really special thing to be able to offer your guests.

As a San Antonio wedding photographer who covers the full Hill Country region I shoot at Park 31 regularly and the drive out to Spring Branch never gets old. Neither do the photos.

What is the En Gedi Main Hall at Park 31?

The En Gedi Main Hall is the main reception and event space at Park 31 in Spring Branch Texas. It holds up to 300 guests, features soaring ceilings, exposed steel beams, floor to ceiling windows overlooking the Hill Country, a wraparound second story balcony, and three massive tiered chandeliers that make the whole room feel like something between a royal wedding and a really cool converted warehouse.

Now here is what that means from behind my camera. During the day those floor to ceiling windows flood the space with natural light that is soft and flattering and genuinely beautiful. As the evening sets in and the chandeliers take over the whole room gets warm and dramatic and the dance floor starts doing things that make me want to stay until they kick us out. As a Hill Country wedding photographer the En Gedi Hall is one of my favorite reception spaces in all of Texas and it shows up in the gallery every single time.

Can I do an outdoor ceremony at Park 31?

Yes and honestly the outdoor ceremony options at Park 31 are a huge part of why couples fall in love with this venue in the first place. Park 31 has two gorgeous outdoor ceremony sites and as a photographer I have feelings about both of them.

The Living Oak site is the grander of the two. More seating, open sky, and that singular ancient oak presiding over the whole thing like it has been waiting for your wedding specifically. The light through those branches during a ceremony is something I genuinely look forward to every single time.

The Umbrella Grove is a completely different energy. More intimate, more tucked in, with those gorgeous Texas live oaks arching overhead like a natural cathedral. The limestone benches, the canopy of branches, the way the light filters through. It feels sacred and cinematic and completely rooted in the Hill Country in a way that no amount of décor could manufacture.

Both outdoor sites at this Spring Branch TX wedding venue photograph beautifully and both give you that Texas Hill Country wedding portrait magic that you simply cannot replicate anywhere else. The real question is whether you want grand and sweeping or intimate and canopied. Either way I am already planning my angles.

How many guests can Park 31 hold?

Park 31 can accommodate up to 300 guests which makes it one of the more generously sized wedding venues in the Texas Hill Country. Big enough for a full celebration, intimate enough that it never feels like a convention center. From a photography standpoint a guest count that size in the En Gedi Main Hall means a dance floor that is actually alive and full and electric and those are genuinely some of my favorite images to make all night long.

Ready to book your Park 31 wedding? photographer?

If you are getting married at Park 31 and you want photos that actually feel like the day felt, I would love to be your photographer. I know this venue, I know the light, I know the spots that most people walk right past and I know exactly how to make your gallery look like everything you felt that day.

Let's talk about your wedding.

What time of day is best for photos at Park 31?

Honestly? The honest answer is as close to golden hour as we can possibly get you. And at Park 31 that answer matters more than it does at almost any other venue I shoot at because the landscape out there is doing something genuinely special when that light hits it right.

Golden hour at Park 31 happens in that window about 45 minutes to an hour before sunset. The light comes through the oak trees warm and amber and low and it wraps around everything in a way that no amount of editing can replicate if you miss it. That is the window I am always chasing and the one I will always build your portrait timeline around if you let me. As a Hill Country wedding photographer it is genuinely one of my favorite golden hour locations in all of Texas.

That said, the En Gedi Main Hall saves us during the harsh midday hours because those floor to ceiling windows diffuse the light beautifully and those three chandeliers create a warmth inside that translates incredibly well on camera. So if your Park 31 ceremony is earlier in the day we have options and we use them well.

But if you want my honest recommendation as your San Antonio wedding photographer? Tell me what time sunset is on your wedding day and let's work backwards from there together. That conversation alone will change what your gallery looks like.
