Jordan & Cameron’s McNay Art Museum Engagement Session | San Antonio Engagement Photographer

The Universe Made Us Wait | Jordan & Cameron’s McNay Art Museum Engagement Session

The first time we tried to shoot this session, I was already in Houston for a wedding. I had even stayed an extra night just for them. And they decided not to.

So I spent that extra night alone in a tiny dome in the middle of nowhere, completely off the grid, completely by myself. And it turned out to be exactly what I needed. I didn’t know it yet, but the universe was already arranging things.

The second time, I had a storm to blame. The biggest one San Antonio had seen in recent memory was scheduled to roll in the morning of Jordan’s bridal shower weekend. Now, you should know something about me. I love a rain shoot. I genuinely do. But I looked at these two, I looked at what I knew they were capable of giving me, and I looked at the McNay Art Museum in all her Spanish Colonial glory and I thought: no. Not like this. I want ALL of it. Every courtyard, every fountain, every open sky.

Jordan was a little heartbroken. She trusted me anyway.

This is what that trust made.

There is a photograph from this session that I keep coming back to. Jordan is standing at the fountain, her white dress catching the wind in a way that no one choreographed and no one could have planned, and Cameron is looking at her like she is the most inevitable thing that has ever happened to him. It is black and white. The whole world falls away behind them. And I remember standing there thinking: this is why we waited.

Jordan is thoughtful and intelligent. Cameron is insightful and curious. Together they are the kind of quiet that fills a room, the kind of couple where you can tell they actually listen to each other. Cameron makes people feel heard and comforted, and Jordan? Jordan is so effortlessly, deeply herself that being around her feels like permission to do the same.

Their dog Bella, a 14-year-old miniature schnauzer who has seen some things and keeps to herself, thank you very much, met Cameron and immediately decided he was the one. Honestly, Bella knew before anyone had to say a word. Dogs always do.

These are not Pinterest engagement photos. There is no forced laughter, no manufactured magic, no “stand here and look happy.” What you are seeing in these images is two people who are genuinely, completely at ease inside their own love story. Cameron looking down at Jordan like she is a painting he cannot believe he gets to keep. Jordan leaning back like she is resting in something solid, something earned, something that has never once made her doubt.

As a San Antonio engagement photographer, I am always chasing locations that feel like they were built for a specific couple. The McNay Art Museum engagement session happened because Jordan said she wanted beautiful architecture if we went indoors, trees and greenery if we went outdoors. The McNay gave us both, and then some. The fountain. The courtyard. The long light cutting through the trees in the late afternoon. Every single frame felt like it already existed somewhere and we were just finding it.

Jordan and Cameron are getting married June 28th, 2026, and I already know that day is going to wreck me in the best way.

To these two: thank you for trusting me twice. Thank you for the reschedules and the storms and the waiting. Thank you for showing up completely, fully, without armor. You gave me everything, and I hope these images give it right back to you every time you look at them, for the rest of your lives.

You are going to be someone’s favorite photo.

If you are looking for a San Antonio wedding photographer who wants images that feel less like a photoshoot and more like a time capsule, I would love to hear from you. I shoot weddings and engagements across San Antonio, Houston, and beyond and I will absolutely stay an extra night in a dome if that is what it takes. Let’s make something that your grandkids will still be talking about.
