The morning of Emily and Isaiah’s wedding I stood in a little country church parking lot in the Texas Hill Country with the warm sun shining on my face and thought, yep. This is exactly where I’m supposed to be today.

We started inside the most perfect little chapel. I always call it catholic lite and I mean that in the most loving way possible. All the beauty and drama of a full Catholic ceremony, the statues, the arches, the stars painted across a blue ceiling, wrapped up in the quaintness of a little country church that feels like it has been holding people’s most sacred moments for a hundred years. The church hall where we got ready had this gorgeous natural light pouring in that made everything feel soft and golden before the day even really began.

Then Isaiah walked in and I need to talk about Isaiah for a second. Yellowstone cowboy handsome. That is the only way to describe it. The kind of handsome that makes complete sense in the Texas Hill Country, like he was built for exactly this landscape. And Emily. Emily is a classic beauty in the truest sense of the word. Elegant, timeless, the kind of bride that makes every single frame feel effortless.

When we made our way out to Hillside Boutique Hotel my actual heart stopped.

I have photographed a lot of Hill Country weddings. I know what to expect from this part of Texas and I think I know what beautiful looks like out here. And still. STILL. I was not prepared. Sweeping vistas stretched out in every direction because views is not a romantic enough word for what this place offers. Palm trees caught the last of the winter light. Twinkle lights were strung everywhere and starting to glow as the evening settled in. It was the kind of scene that makes you stop walking and just stand there for a second because you want to actually feel it before you start photographing it.
The intimacy of this venue is what sets it apart. This was not a big ballroom wedding with five hundred people and a DJ who never learns the room. This was Emily and Isaiah surrounded by the people who actually matter, dancing the night away with their whole family in a space that felt like it was made just for them. Small enough to feel personal. Beautiful enough to take your breath away. That combination is genuinely rare and when you find it you never forget it.

And then they blew out candles. On their wedding day. I had heard this was becoming a thing and honestly I am here for it. There is something so sweet about bringing a birthday tradition into your wedding day, this idea that you are celebrating the beginning of an entirely new life together. They made a wish. I hope it was a good one!
Blooms and Blossoms Floral Shop brought the most gorgeous arrangements that felt perfectly at home against that Hill Country backdrop. Khalil Cosa had Emily absolutely glowing from hair to makeup. Northern Lights DJ kept the dance floor moving all night long. Haby’s Alsatian Bakery made the cake that I am still thinking about. Fiancee Bridal Boutique Boerne found Emily her dress and got it so right. And the whole day ran beautifully with the full dream team showing up and doing what they do best.

Emily and Isaiah, I hope you blow out candles every single anniversary. I hope Isaiah always looks at you like that. And I hope every time you look at those vistas you remember that you got to promise forever in front of them.
